Four decades ago, at my wedding, I asked the Purohit to explain the Sanskrit mantra. He said, ‘please sir let me do it the way I was taught to recite. I honestly do not know the meaning’.
Best is to use podcasts such as this or other media to educate and explain the meaning of mantras etc.
Dharma dispatch, for example, has given me a good insight into our history than what I received or was taught at the missionary school I went to.
Brilliantly said, just before this phase the weddings were traumatic all in the name of Boy side pride, Girl Side should give respect to entire Boy side beyond their abilities in terms of logistics, their comforts and what not. Far better than the current weddings though, as the current weddings are at their peaks in terms of activity, vulgarity, wastage of food and resources.
Just saw your Podcast " The Destruction of Hindu Weddings" . Very interesting. My Name is Raj Shah and I am co-owner and Editor-in-Chief of Magazine called Desh-Videsh. I have been looking for a write up or video which broadly details the different rituals and their significance so that I can tell youngsters(those willing to listen at least) about how meaningful our weddings are. Despite the diversity across the country, some steps are common to all. So far, I have not been able to find a reasonably comprehensive account. It would be nice if Dharma Dispatch could produce one.
I believe this is the problem of present times, since neither the parents & nor the would be couple understand the meaning. And it's not the problem that erupted all of sudden in last 50 years. Past might have their own orthodoxy problem. It's just because we have lots of understandable data for present times & much credit to tech world, we are in.
Lack of data of past times, makes us feels like just 100yrs back, it was wonderful. But they had their sets of problem, who knows it was worse or better, since a wedding happening in any local region was confined. Due to limitation, it wasn't been able to broadcast

Hope sanity presides over vanity. My 2 cents

The information about Naga Chaitanya wedding being sponsored or financed by Netflix etc is incorrect. You should verify facts before defaming people.

nowhere in the text of the post or the video is the name of the speaker evident.
